Post subject: | Reverse light wiring |
Hi all, Since I was repairing the gearbox, I figured I should look at the selector mechanism to make sure it's in good shape too. After a good clean and re-greasing, it looks all good, except the reverse light switch. There are two wires - one green and another green with a red trace - and both are grounded. But what confuses me is that it looks like it came like that from the factory, the plugs are the same as those in the engine bay. Anyway, where should I expect to find the wires these attach to? Are they green like the switch ones? |

not familiar with the rod change reverse light switch setup, but a solid green wire always goes to fused ignition power, so the green/red should go to the reversing lights part of the circuit |

Mine plugged into a loom that ran inside the Car from near the gearshift to the dash. I might have a photo somewhere..... Dicko. |

Green wire into the switch - green red to the lights - earthed through the globe when the switch is closed |

My clubmans reverse light switch wires ran from the switch along the bottom of the front subframe (held to the suby with clips) and plugged into the wiring harness near the left front head light. I believe mine was factory standard. |

That rings a bell - I seem to remember some wires in that area that I didn't know what they were for. I'll have a look in the morning. |
