hey guys, A bit of advice needed. I think I am not going to bother but thought I would get your thoughts. I went for a drive in the mini on the weekend and ended up at a local large shopping centre. I thought while I was there I would get the car washed. I have had it done before and they did a good job. When I picked the car up the guy looked really guilty about something. When I started driving I got round the block and noticed that my gear stick now moved a lot further to the left than before. Seems that the bracket that mounts from the remote to the cotton reels had been snapped. I had broken it before but had it welded up and hadn't had a problem since then. My question is should I chase the carwash people with it and just get it fixed up and not bother? |

Couple of things come to mind. 1. What would you get out of them? its a gearstick for a carwash. Most you'll get is them to say 'yeh we took it over a speed bump in the carpark and broke something'. 2. Easy fix, be glad nothing worse has happened. 3. Wash your own car from now on. I'd not trust anyone but a mini specialist with my car. |

Just get it fixed. The car wash would argue that its been previously broken and improperly welded. In fact if it has broken in the same spot then it was improperly welded. Mike |

have to agree also. I would get a new bracket, rear rubber and also replace the engine steady rubbers and also dail your own car. Every time I see someone leaving a car wish I see area's that have been missed |

hey guys, Yeah I kind of agree. I am not going to bother this I wish he had just told me what had happened rather than pretending nothing happened. I usually wash it myself but get sick of it. It is black so needs washing ALL THE TIME ![]() |
