I'm having a look at this on saturday, but wondered if anyone here knew of it? According to RTA free rego check & the seller its been off the road since 2002.

Also stupid question but I forgot to confirm the engine size when I spoke to seller, is it identifiable from that engine bay shot? :)

Any info/advice before I go inspect it is hugely appreciated!

Cheers,

Nick

i can't tell from the pics (someone more tuned in than me may be able to)

but i'd be surprised if it wasn't at least an 1100 as from as far as i can squint through the wheel spokes it's got discs..

looks ike a good buy to me.

The heater take off on the head shows it is NOT a 1275...
other than that I can't say.

Being a 78 would have been a 998 originally ( I think.) .. but anything could have happened since then (eg adding disk brakes shows it's been modified).

Discs? I clearly need glasses!

Cheers guys, I thought it looked quite nice too, but I'll still be taking my cynical mechanic mate along to balance out the enthusiasm :)

Looks like soe one has hacked into the rear parcel shelf to make way for speakers. Big no, no as it weakens seat belt anchorage and will not pass roadworthy in that condition.

You mean it's not rear wheel drive?!?!?!? :)

I know about the speaker holes, I was planning to close them back up if I get it, if I did eventually put rear speakers in I'd go underseat.

Cheers for all the input!

if you enlarge the photo of the rim, and squint in the right direction and poke your tongue out at a perpindicular angle to your eyes...

there's a square flat edge showing in front of the hub behind the wheel... drums would be round not square :) i think it's the edge of the caliper showing.

I'd buy it for 3G's - I've probably spent 5 times that on mine and it's still not on the road

Agree with that....
But must admit my original comment was based on there being a brake booster
(so no guarantee on disk brakes)...
...... but is still an indication of being modified

So I had a look on Saturday, decided against it.

Had a fair bit of rust around the roof and gutters and the sills. Shame because the paint was original and it looked straight :( My mech mate was also worried about the rings being shot and a few other things.

Maybe not too difficult a job for some, but for my first mini I'd like something less ambitious :)

The search continues! :)
