Hi guys, I've been away the last couple of months after losing my license to the bureaucratic idiots up here. I had to get some custom flares made up to get the flying yellow brick registered, 25mm one's just didn't cover the front wheels. Took nearly 9 weeks but Geoff from www.hotmoke.com finally got a set in and did a fantastic job fitting them for me 8) (I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow). I should get my license back this week after all the bribes errr fees have been paid.
Then it's a trip to get an inspection and fix the inevitable few minor issues (just silly things like handbrake adjustment and seat mounts , intentionally left that way for the inspector to find so he can say he's done his job lol). Once registered I can make up and wack some spacers on the rears to fill the flares (you'll see what I mean when I post the photo's  )
I was very po'd at losing my license, apparently I had a $80 speeding fine sent to me 2 years ago which I never recieved so therefore never paid, the first I knew about it was when I got pulled over for a random breath test and license check. 1 trip to court later and I ended up with a cancelled license and a 4 week ban from getting another and a lovely $400 fine.
4 weeks slowly went by and I went to get a new one reissued only to be turned away becuase my NSW birth certificate extract wasn't good enough up here I had to have a full one, to get a full one I needed a license or passport, to get a passport or license I needed my full birth certificate  After yet another 4 weeks and many$ spent on phone calls to gov departments a minister took action and got me my full birth certificate issued (for yet more$) It finally arrived and now I can hopefully get my right to drive back  What made all of this even worse is the fact I run a "mobile" pc repair business for a living, and there is no system in place for a work license to be issued when a spers suspension is involved :x
Sorry for the long winge and grats to anyone who managed to read it  It still does my head in thinking about it
I see that there's been some upset while I've been gone and thought I'd offer my 2 cents (that used to be a denomination to you young whippersnappers  ) Censorship can be bad but is sometimes needed , especially in a "G" rated forum such as this. Hopefully we've seen an end to the garbage and name calling and let this place get back to what it was when I last visited, a place where a bunch of great guys (and girls) come to talk about their obsession with that amazing little vehicle the MINI :D

Ahh yes. The government.

You need a birth certificate to get a license, but you need a license to get a birth certificate.

Who the hell thought that up anyway?
