I recall that i used to have one of these on my clubman a while ago, but i cant for the life of me remember where the hell i got it from.

A spin on oil filter with a provision on the bottom of it for a socket to go on it would make changing an oil filter on a fixed grill moke much easier...

Has anyone else seen these or am i believing things?

Yep I've seen them, I think maybe was a Bosch one?
Just go buy a 3 armed filter removal tool- then you just need a ratchet and extension from below, with the standard spin-on. Mine is a T&E Tools 4278.
Supercrap sells a cheapo version but it works.

K&N's oil filter is one that has the nut on the bottom. Not cheap tho.

The only ones I know of are K&N and Simota ones.
Autobarn sells drift filters which seem to be the most readily available and supercheap sell calibre but not many stores seem to have them.
Drift and cailbre filters are just re-branded simota ones as far as I can find but who knows what goes on past the red curtain.

Either way I have heard good things about drift filters ala:

But unless GR recommends them there will just be pages and pages of hearsay and arguments on these forums  so I wont say anymore.

All Supercrap's filters are ridiculously overpriced now.
Equally good filters are MUCH cheaper elsewhere.

Hahahah Agreed

I have used the K&N good filter part number is 1001 from memory ..
another bonus is it has a Hole in the nut so you can lock wire it ..

autobarn also had another filter with the nut on the bottom i think it was a D1 or drift that didn't have the lock wire hole but it did have a Magnet inside of it ..
