can someone help me out ... I have know idear on how to work out witch spark plug lead goes onto the dizzy cap in the right order??? can someone explaine how to work this out?? or give me a diagram? many thanks in advance... from Brien |

Ok so what you need to do, is get the motor to have no.1 cylinder at t.d.c on the compression stroke. Then, take the dizzy cap off and have a look at which way the rotor is pointing. It should be pointing towards one of the posts inside the cap (if the cap was on). The distributor turns anti-clockwise. So when the dizzy is pointing at a post, with cylinder 1 on t.d.c on compression, then that post in the cap is no.1 lead. Then work anti-clockwise with the order being 1, 3, 4, 2. And to work out if cylinder 1 is on compression stroke, there are several ways to do it, but i find it easy to take out the spark plug, place your thumb over the spark plug hole and turn the motor over. You will feel the compression as the piston rises, if on it's compression stroke, then just bring the piston to the top and bingo. |
