Guys i desparately need a set of flat tops in 73mm. Does anybody know of someone making these, or where I can go to have these made up. Am struggling to get the right comp ratio for what I need. I cant machine down a set of hypatecs enough unless I take heaps off the block as the crank is de-stroked, so I need flat tops. |

So you can't skim the head enough either? I had two mm shaved off my head and it still had enough meat to use. Can you get a longer rod and just run the normal pistons, longer rods would suit the revvy nature of a de stroked motor, last time I asked Argo would do custom length rods but finding the right pistons would be a cheaper option I suppose. |

Despite popular (incorrect) belief, Omega still make them and in a variety of crown heights just for a delima such as yours. There is also JP Engineering in Adelaide, however while good, they are not a competion piston. Look too at Honda Jazz and Mazda Capella pistons. |

How about the Mazda Pistons that I use ? I have some new and some second if you want to have a look at them. From original form the only mod needed to fit these to the rod is a little honing of the gudgeon pin hole. Great Jap piston. They are slightly shorter in deck height though and I always used these in 84mm strokers. All depends on the block decking too. Available in 73, 73.5, 74, and 74.5 mm. |

They may be something I can use. Any idea of height pinion to crown??, and the top ring land thickness, in case I need to machine them. I am running a short stroke 80mm and currently the block isnt far off standard deck height. The Hypatec's are perfect fit and height if only they were flat-tops. I appreciate your assistance. G. |
