So I've searched and searched and read up on flares.
Are all flares now plastic and just painted at the same time as the car?
Does anyone do metal flares?
I'm all for having metal flares welded to the body.
I'm going to need flares for my shell and 10x6s so may as well think about them now. Should I get them painted with the shell and then rivet/screw them on with a metal strip welded underneath?

Go and have a look at some other cars and then decide for yourself, have you got the wheels yet? if not get them before you buy flares and fit them or have them painted! what brake and or hub combination are you running? drums all round, disc and drum, stepped, not stepped? it all makes a difference

should be painted serparately. If you put the plastic ones on and paint them on you will see under coat between the flare and the wing.

I fibreglassed my plastic flares to the body and shaped them in, painted the whole car at once.

It took a lot of work, i think i spent about 10 hours on each flare with fibreglass, bog, spray putty and finally paint

see my build thread for a few pics

i would love to see someone make up some metal flares for their mini.
