Post subject:  Flip Front Clubman

Hi All,

I have seen many fibreglas flip front conversions for roundy's but none for clubby's...

Although, I did find one short video of a guy in UK who had fitted one to his wifes red clubby...

Haven't seen any evidence of this here in Oz though...

Anyone know of any street legal fibreglass flip front minis here in Australia?

Cheers with beers,

Zulu

The main issue here is getting it Engineered. Clubmans and the later Leyland Mini are all covered by ADR's and putting a flip front on changes the Structual Integrity that they were complied with.

I'd love to put a Flip Front on mine but can't see it happening.....

Cheers,

Dicko.

not much of an issue just read ADR65A, talks about front end modifications and you can't do anything if its after july 95, i think. its been a long time since i read that ADR

however you will need an engineers approval to be road legal. and he'll make sure that you comply.

There are a couple of engineers around Newcastle, I can't remember the guys name but the guy at Cardiff is a bit of a knob, you can go to the RTA and request a list of local engineers.
If they say you can flip front a post 73 model car just hang up or walk away.

That'd be Great Colin. Still need to get on to that Car and Trailer for the Rotisserie too. I'm just getting over an infection under my Surgical Scar (what next?) so hopefully I'll be fighting fit again soon.

Cheers,

Dicko

I'm pretty sure the engineer I was going to use in Newcastle was something Mackay(Mckay?) he had a Mighty Boy set up for track use and was a super knowledgeable and friendly guy.

Agreed. The method they have used to engineer the flip front looks sensible too...
