Hi all,
My mini was repainted a few years ago, and it is apparent that it wasn't the best paint job in the world. I plan to repaint the shell at the end on the year (although I'm repainting the engine bay at the moment, since the engine is already out for another issue).

However, the roof, which I thought was the best painted part of the car, has recently started showing rust spots over the entire roof. The spots are only tiny - if the roof is rubbed by hand, the marks disappear leaving only a tiny pinhole which isn't really visible.

Since I'm painting at the end of the year, can I do a simple 'quick fix' to stop it rusting further? Or will I need to strip it all back and fully paint the roof now?

well, to fix it properly, it needs to be stripped completely, primed, and painted.
When you do that is up to you.
The roof is only small, so if it was me i'd just fix it now.

A thick coat of car wax should keep it quite waterproof.
