Post subject:  ANTS keep attacking my Mini!!!

Ok so I finally got everything sorted after 9months
Uncovered the mini (was covered almost the whole time)
Moved house and the mini has it's new place. It's being driven daily now so it's outside most of the time. It's a clean driveway etc.

When I finished (about 2 days ago) I washed her, cleaned everything and sprayed the wheels. I used ICE carwash and Maguires on the Tyres. That's about it.

Now everytime I go out there there are lots o those little black ants on it!!! They are not inside the car which is good!

Anyone had similar experience? I kill them all and next day there are more.
Just to put into perspective there are 2 other cars in the same place washed the same way (not recently though) and they don't have the any problproblem.
The mini is bright yellow the others are grey and dark blue.

Could it be the products I am washing with?
Could it be the bright colour?

I don't really want to be washing the car with Mortein or anything like that lol.

Hope someone else has had something similar with their mini and found a fix.

Cheers,
Peter.

I had this with a BF Falcon not too long ago. The little buggers had built a large nest inside the base of the A pillar near the door hinges. This was a daily driver work car, not one left standing for ages either.

When I finally found out, I hit it with the bug spray with a long tube attached, but it still took two or three goes to get rid of them.

lol Pete! They're the Ant army I sent to retrieve your turbo

I doubt it's the products, might want to check for a nest as Hagar suggests. If so, get rid of the queen and you're done.

I had a car that frequently had ants on and in it. I am positive they had a nest in it somewhere. I never did find out where... then i sold the car.

When i was pulling apart a Celica with friends (to take to the tip) we found a big nest of ants under the rear parcel shelf. That's the kind of place i assume my car had a nest.

Might be the color, I had a 'hairy lime' clubman that every time I washed it, bugs used to land all over it, ....weird.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Ill hit it with bug spray too.

I figured taking it to Eastern Creek at full belt down the 1/4 mile should scare them off but dont have the time lol.

Interesting on the nests, makes sense.
Funnily though, I went to the servo this morning to pump up the tyres a bit on the way to work and as I put my hand near the wheel a massive (well, big compared to the little black ones) ant with a yellow striped back (bum) jumped on my hand.
I am hoping that was the queen... if it was, she is next to the BP tyre pump in Quakers Hill if anyone wants to see her, look for a round patch with rubber all around it from me squashing the living @#$#$@# out of it.

I dont mind bugs that much, I DO hate it when they decide they can walk on me though lol

Will keep at it.

Thanks,
Peter

That's like the only damn working pump that's local

Well, out of the ones where you don't have to trudge into the damn shop to ask to borrow the pump attachment and wait while they fumble around trying to find it because they're new here. All the while your car is sitting outside with it's hubcaps sitting loose next to the wheels because you expected they would have the damn thing hooked up.

That and Vardy's Rd pump was out of service..

Glad to hear you've got it worked out though

I tried but they are prickly buggers. I got the model easy but my wife sent her packing. Not happy Jan. Lol
