and usually with 3 posts to their name - don't get me wrong - I'm happy to help newbies and if the lived up the road I help out all I could - It's just some of the newbies are coming over a bit arrogant |

way back when i was a newbie... i received some awesome help and assistance from a super generous member, gave me heaps of help and advice to get my car on the road at the time. i was then (and mostly still) super impressed with the friendliness and generosity of our little community here. it is by far the nicest, warmest, fuzziest little forum community i've been a part of (and that's more than a few!) in a few months i will again be calling out for some help and assistance and as an avid brewer, there's always a keg on for after the work, or takeaways if the helper prefers.... i agree Doogie, asking for free stuff is rude. |

If I accumulate bit's that I know I won't use and are definately too good to chuck, then people are more than welcome too it, they organise pick up for big stuff and pay post and a small fee, usually $5, too cover packing and going to post office. I have given away heaps of Z50 stuff. (my other hobby) |

Don't care how long they have been on the forum, asking for parts for free is rude. So too are the people that I have given parts to that then decide to put the parts on ebay. |

Doogie, As someone who is new to the forum but not to minis, I can see where you are coming from, however, in using myself as an example, the request of some parts has never been a case of wanting it for free! I generally like to put out feelers first, if there are bites, then offering to pay for the said item & leaving the option open for the other person, either accepting or declining the offered payment. I believe we are all in the same boat, giving & taking with fairness, dignity & integrity. I certainly hope that there would not be members here that would knowingly gouge other members ![]() ![]() |

I hope that no one thinks i have asked for anything for free, that is not my intention. I understand that these things aren't cheap and are some times hard to find. I appreciate any and all help that i am offered. I m building my first mini and am doing so on a budget so I may ask for some help on here, but if in the future some one asked me for a favor in return and i am able to do so, I am more than happy to oblige. Thanks to all that have helped me in the past and thanks in advance to all that may help me in the future ![]() |

Doogie, I'm glad that you have clarified your statement & that you are mearly expressing an opinion & in that light, I certainly would agree with you. (I didnt think you pointed the finger at me personally) Having said that, I for one, admire a person who has a forthright opinion & is not afraid to express it! ![]() ![]() |

Never had someone ask for free parts but if I knew someone wanted something that I would certainly try to help them out (cash or kind) Like most restorers I am always on the lookout for parts and more than willing to pay for them (speedo still purring away thanks Doogie). What ticks me off is when you chase up some parts, make contact swap numbers, agree on a price and never hear from the seller again. Probably has happened four times this year so far. All members of this forum. I believe that a good turn will come back your way one day (good karma). Sometimes it doesn't. As an example I ran around for a day getting bits for a member, packing, sending, and then some time later wanting a $10 part and thought the member might say, "no worries, I owe you a favour I'll send it down" - but NO "send me the money first and I will post it". Some peoples memories are very short these days. Sorry for the hijack. |
