Greetings All.

Learning all the time! My project was to learn how to rebuild a gearbox. Had a few problems. Thanks to several "Mini chats" over the past month, It's all working, leak free and quiet!!!!!
However, I was a little worried it wasn't locking into 1st and 3rd, and it popped out a couple times. Mmmmmmmmm....
Today I thought I'd compare the shift rod that connects to the gear shift. (Wand gearbox, sorry), anyhow , I took off the dust plate (4 X 7/16 bolts), then put it into 1st gear. Mmmmm........that's better. The shaft was hitting the plate and wouldn't go down far enough. I made a 3/16" rubber spacer and every things sweet.
I can only presume BMC drill the spline locking bolt for each G/Box. As the rebuild used the best of several G/Box's, I got it wrong.

It now feels completely "in-gear" and 1st seems even quieter.

About time I had a win!

Alex.
