I can't find it in my manuals, but the turning circle on Oz Minis is pretty poor, as they never got the UK's Mk2-on racks (which had another tooth or 2 on em).
But at least we can fix OUR racks...

What is the turning circle of a Mini ? Moke? If you have access that is 2.1 meters wide with a vertical drop on the right with a near right angle left turn ( concrete column on inside of corner and another column 2.1 meters opposite) can a Mini/Moke negociate it? |

I say no... Mine has a terrible turning circle... thought it was just my setup... dont know the exact details on what the turning circle is though. Pete |

My UK rack had a better turning circle than the aussie rack...but still pretty woeful. |

Turning circle varies by model but pretty sure they were all over 8m, so a 90 degree turn is gonna be over 4m radius......no way it's getting around a 2.1m wide right angle, unless I've misunderstood the description. Oh and no way with the hand brake either... unless your mini is less than 2.1m long!

If memory serves, a standard aussie mini has an 8.5m turning circle. I believe the rover racks are a little tighter. This really doesn't worry me - I'm used to driving a hilux (around 12.5m turning circle). I've found quite a few roundabouts that require a 3-point turn. |

I've got some of the wheeled dollies - depends if I end up with a concrete floor or watered and vibrated road base

I think you'll find the turning circle is something like 36feet - but I don't remember whether that is between curbs or walls.... But you right - a UK rack is a huge improvement - almost drove a mates car into a wall because I've become so used to the UK version. Why not stick some cardboard boxes on a flat piece of ground replicating your corner and see if you can make the turn... Cheers, Ian |
