Moke I looked at today has the fuel tank under the back with the fuel filler in the back.

Fuel tank is under car in between subframe.

Anyone seen this?

The rear tank can be fitted to regular Mokes to add a second tank. I have one of these tanks put aside for this purpose, plus a similar tank that belongs to somebody else and is for sale. I reckon it they'd fit a mini van as well.

Cool, their still out there to be found, jump on it if it's the right price.
I'm no expert but if you need to know anything about that particular model I can use mine as a reference.

I was always fascinated why we have Mokes that were due for export that ended up staying here.
Was it the excess that didn't get sold?

No, the US cancelled the order before the cars were made and Leyland already had all the parts. Hence they built them as RHD and sold them as a limited edition "Californian". The idea of an upmarket Moke worked, so the mainstream Californian appeared a few years later. The later Californian was basically a sticker and trim pack, it didn't have the unique Export bits.

To me, the Export is the ultimate Moke.

Its his car let him do what he likes. Whats wrong with turboing and modifying a 61' 850? Its nice to have granny spec examples but its also nice to see the other extreme. I say go for it baracade
