Driving over to Mum's this evening, I met some of the local wildlife ![]() Luckily I was only about 30 or 40 metres before the turn into her place so was going pretty slow. I didn't see the roo at all until it was bouncing off the bonnet. I think the only panel damage is to the bonnet but the paint is a bit chipped where the bonnet hit the panel below. I can't actually open the bonnet though to check for other damage. I checked my excess and was pleasantly surprised to see that it's only $250. Time to check out if Shannon's are as friendly as they are meant to be. ![]() |

bummer. but lucky if it's only the one panel. the only upside i can see is that all of us other Shannon's policy holders can get feedback on their service when it's ACTUALLY needed... please keep us informed. |

Never had a problem with Shannons. Once when someone pulled out in front of me I rang them from the side of the road to get them to ring a tow (I didn't have the towing number but I had theirs with me). They put me on hold for a minute or two while they organised the tow, then processed the claim over the phone while I was waiting. Really big help when they ask for the other drivers details and you can say "hang on I'll put him on" (even bigger help when the first thing the other driver said to them was "sorry I didn't mean it" ![]() |

I just rang Shannon's and the girl was very friendly. She was sympathetic to both me and the kangaroo. The next thing will be to see how the repairer that they suggested turns out. |

If its only the bonnet, it might be cheaper than your excess to get a new bonnet and paint it.... I have previously made a claim through Shannons and they were EXCELLENT. It was 2 years ago but they were professional and sympathetic the whole way through. Everything was handled by them and at the end I got a call and then a cheque. |

That was my initial thoughts but the excess is only $250 and I'm not sure if there is any damage to the hinge area (I haven't opened the bonnet yet) so I think I'd like to at least get it looked at by a panel beater. |

Can anybody recommend a panel beater in Canberra? Shannon's gave me the number of one who are happy to work on old cars but they can't even look at it to give a quote until the start of October. ![]() |

Just remember that an insurance claim may potentially impact your premium going forward. |

I never got around to responding to this. Shannons were excellent and easy to deal with. I told them of the accident over the phone and then didn't really need to talk to them again. They rang me briefly once the repair had been approved and I received a text after the repair had been made to check that everything was okay. The car is now looking better than ever. Unfortunatly the new paint is in better condition than the rest of the car but you can't be too fussy. I also took the opportunity to buy new chromework for the front and it is looking really good now. Cheers, Simon |
