Post subject:  Advance Weight Spring

Had a peek inside my dizzy on the weekend, found one of the advance weights broken and jammed on the other spring.... the remainder was in the bottom of the dizzy....

Now Ken Nelson re-graphed this dizzy back in 2005 I think, and I in NO WAY suggest this was caused by his work..

Basically, are there different tension springs on the market....? How will I know which one to use?

Brad, spoke with Ken, best way is to send the dizzy back to him and he will have it sorted. The springs used would have been selected to suit the advance curve, so needs to go back to get the right spring/s.

Hi Luis, it is 29D dizzy. Not sure if they were made outside Oz.

Hi Steve,

thanks ;-) , never seen a Lucas dizzy like this, having the advance springs hooked on those up arms . I think Ducelliers work the same way... but not sure.
The nice thing is that you should be able to tweek the arms a bit to soften the springs action.

Cheers
Luis

Looking at my pile of dead dizzys, I think the 29D dizzy is the least durable one we ever got here- a 43D/45D is a much better unit.
