I always thought it was 1.3:1, with 1.5:1 being the performance upgrade, but is stock less than 1.3?

I always thought it was 1.3:1, with 1.5:1 being the performance upgrade, but is stock less than 1.3?

ha,,, 1.25 is what they`re meant to be, but they`re all usually all over the place 1.28 1.23 1.25 1.24 1.28 pic a number

None are near 1.25, except the 1275 oval pad pressed steel ones. I tested 'em all a while back on a 1275 head with an RE13 cam, I'll put the figures here shortly. [edit] here ya go: RE13 cam, 1275 head, .290" lobe lift, .016" rocker clearance- added to actual valve lift to calculate rocker ratio. Cooper S forged rockers 1.16:1 A+/late A series sintered rockers 1.18:1 Pressed steel 850/998/1098 rockers 1.21:1 Pressed steel rockers, .044" offset bushed 1.31:1 Pressed steel oval pad 1275 rockers 1.27:1 (from memory) Pressed steel oval pad rockers .044" offset bushed 1.35:1. Simon K has the only set in captivity. [edit] Toyota Corolla rockers, modified by me to fit Mini shaft (shaft moved back 1.6mm) 1.46:1. |

No Michael I haven't, but when looking at the pad on these, it is flat across the end, not round like the common ones.

Anyone shed any light or offer an opinion on these: http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?ty=pb&pid=34870&title= My engine head has just been recod and fitted with double springs, so thinking I could go to 1.5 rockers, but unsure what brands are okay and whats rubbish. |

Yes I have run those MSC 1.5 forged ones on my 1360 for 50,000 miles so far. They are standing up well, the HD shaft and bushes are still good too, as are my bronze valve guides. Note they are actually 1.58:1 ratio (according to Keith Calver) and they give a lot of lift. Watch what springs you use. I have about .493" valve lift with my RE282 cam. 
[edit] as Lillee said, don't use them unless you want/need to rev well over 6000 or so. They give top end performance at the expense of bottom torque. |

Forged set are good, but I honestly think 1.5 is too big for a road going car... I had 1.5 and swear that 1.3's make the car much more torquey through the rev range. Won't be doing back anytime soon... |
