Post subject: | new panels for clubman ? |
hey all Im just starting a clubman resto and have been looking around on ebay uk and a few mini sites there. Just wanting to know if the panels will fit the aus clubman ? 1/4 panels are listed as fitting all minis from 1970 - 01 ? Im not sure about door skins as i cant find a listing or a pic with the same door handle recess, but thats easy to change so long as i get the right shape skins... does anyone know which 1 will fit or are they all the same ? the front guards listed as clubman will fit i assume but what about A piller panels ? are they all the same or varied between models ? I know there are people in Australia selling these panels but i would prefer to get them out of uk if poss as even with postage they are less than 1/4 the price. any help or advice on this would be much appreciated. Thanks |

The a pillars are the same and i think you may need to get some rubbers that go between the front apron and the subframe as the uk ones are differant, Good luck Cheers matt |

Also, not from any of my experiances, but i have heard most of the new panels you can find for old cars dont fit perfectly, oh and the guard will fit you just may need to drill a hole for your antena, (if its mounted on one of the guards) Matt, |

You can't get the Australian Clubman door skins in England. They never had them. The UK Clubman had hidden door hinges so you need to use the earlier A-panels. |

Try minisport Australia or mini king, their are a fair few mini retailers who stock Australian mini parts. |

I don't think Oz doorskins have been available for a while- I know some people have been modding UK 850 skins to fit our early windup doors. I would have thought with Clubbies it's easier to just fit another door- they are not that rare, yet! ![]() |

Been looking into this myself recently.... but still trying to get a complete picture... heres a straw sketch.. 1. UK Minis went to a larger rear window when they changed to clubman style rear lights.. 2. Similarly I think the rear side windows also changed size not long after - eg the 1970 listed ... (anyone confirm or deny ? ) 3. The mentioned door/door hinge change. We continued using the original A panel and external hinges. 4. The front subframe became rubber mounted so slight change in the front panel mounting.. but I see BMH (British Motoring Heritage) list a "solid" panel - just never seen anyone listing them for sale. Part "C4" http://www.bmh-ltd.com/p63c.asp http://www.bmh-ltd.com/miniparts.htm# EDIT: PS ... and we had the bolt on slam panel for the bonnet... Mini King often has these fittings on ebay ... but not at present... |

Thanks for all the replies fellas I think i know what bits im after now. Im not fussed if i have to modify the door skins to fit the oz door handles and so on. Im a panel beater so im used to reproduction panels not being a nice fit but its easier and less time consuming for me to make a few alterations as need be than make panels from scratch. Thanks for all the advice ![]() |
