Post subject: | Three Clock Dash |
Hi guys, Finally got myself a mini and picking it up this weekend, looking forward to putting some miles on it! One thing though it has the 2 clock dash(it's a 78 clubman) and I'd really like a Tacho. Are the 3 clock clusters a simple swap or is there more work to it? Cheers, Nick |

You will need a new "cradle" to mount the 3 clock cluster to the dash but that should come with it. Everything will bolt and plug straight in, their should already be a taco wire in the loom which will need to be connected the the alternator aswell. In my car I modified my 2 clock dash cradle to fit the new 3 clock cluster, it's just the bottom legs than need to be rebuilt to meet up with the wider mounting points on the cluster. |

If you are putting a custom dash in you won't need the cradle, just the two brackets that join the tac to the fuel gauge. You may have trouble finding an original tac that works, but you can get a new circuit board put into the tac and still look original. And if you want lights you may need a three gauge printed circuit or have a globe jumped from one of the other lights in the gauge set. Good luck |

A wire running from tacho to alternator in most cases is a cock up. Most tachos run off the coil. ![]() |
