I'd like to know too. I used a die grinder to do my Moke's rear arm bearings. What a PITA that was!

after some investigation, i believe the use of a blind bearing puller is the go. Shame i dont have one :cry:

Collet puller and slide hammer is the way to go but if you dont have one then its a matter of attacking it with a die grinder or dremmel.

One way I've found to get them out:

(1) Hammer a thick washer (same diameter as the bearing, or a little bit smaller) into a U shape.

(2) Insert the washer through the inside of the bearing. Orient it on the inner side of the bearing with the bent parts facing inwards (and the bits of the washer that are still flat sitting against the inside of the bearing).

(3) Put a pair of nuts on a long, reasonably thick bolt. The nuts need to be small enough to fit through the bearing but too large to fit through the hole on the washer. Leave a bit of bolt (maybe 5mm) after the nuts.

(4) Insert the bolt into the washer from the far end (using the 5mm bit on the end to keep it centred). Hammer the end of the bolt until the bearing comes out.

I got the front ones out with a a hammer and punch, wasn't that hard.

Don't know what Ill do on the rears as they are too long.

Anyone know where to get some decent new bearings?

I tackled the rears thanks to Micks how to. Drift from the bush end and out it all comes. However, now after installing new bearings and bronze bush, the pin will not pass through the bush :roll: F@#King cars! :x

The rear bush always has to be reamed. If it's still a little small, then it needs to be reamed once more. The rear bushes sap my will to live...

You can fit a needle roller instead of the bush (bigwheel Mokes have this) but first you need to machine that end of the arm out to ~27.0mm...
Not easy to do this accurately without specialised tooling.

There is a trick to reaming that bush out. Put the reamer in the lathe chuck, and put the other end of the arm on the tailstock..
