Post subject: | Fuel pump locations... |
Is it possible in non fuel injected minis to have a fuel pump inside the fuel tank? My project (1964 850 with carbie 998 engine) wont fire and on inspection, it looks like the fuel pump has gone (there is no pump of fuel to the float chamber of the carbie on reds power). On quick further inspection, i cant locate the fuel pump in any of the usual locations (boot near fuel tank, firewall, under body at rear subframe) The car has had the boot floor flattened (no battery box) with a hybrid tank put in which comprises a mounted van fuel tank inside across the new boot floor... Has anyone seen a pump inside the tank before? Is there anywhere else a pump could be placed? |

You're saying that you can't squeeze a little square facet pump in the rear subframe? |

a lot of the modern submersible pumps (inside tank) from injected cars may have too much pressure for a carby ![]() |

For a van tank to fit inside a sedan boot it must be somewhat modified (is "mounted" a typo???). If so, goodness knows what else they did. FI (in tank pumps put out something like 40psi VS 1 to 3 that a carby likes). If it is "In Tank" there must be a hatch or lid of some kind to allow you to get at it. Cheers, Ian |

There are many carby cars that have in-tank pumps that run at low pressure. I had a flick through the Pierburg pump catalogue a while ago and it lists hundreds of different types. Lots of 80's Euro stuff seemed to have in-tank pumps for carby engines. Your relocated tank may well contain one. M |
