This could b wrong but from first look one side has 2 Ball bearings separated by a spacer like my red 71-78 gregorys manual . The other has a bearing no spacer & a tapered roller bearing.?

Normal ? Odd or am I seeing things.

Do you mean to say that 1 side of the car is the ball bearing type, and the other side of car has tapered roller without a spacer? Or do you mean the one side uses half tapered, half ball bearing? In which case that isn't really normal practice.

Original was the twin ball-races with spacer as per Gregorys

An upgrade is to use twin taper roller bearings, with separate or integral spacer.

Just seems in your case the PO has done one side but got tired/ran out of time/money/was tightarse and didn't do the other

cheers,

Jacob

Well let's see how much life is left in the twin ball racer type. Fun
