After misplacing Claude's only key this morning methinks I need a spare. Where does one source these?

Mister Minit was able to do my cars ignition key, but as of yet I haven't found anyone that can make a copy of my fuel filler cap key.

Thanks Harley.

I only have the one key. It does ignition, doors and the boot.

I have kept the original fuel caps so no need there.

If anyone is interested there are a couple of companys that have original Wilmot Breeden key blanks both uncut (old stock) and also cut used keys.

If you know the key code they can look in their stock of old used keys.

see

Mate, that is mighty generous. I ain't stuck (yet  ) but was more wondering about getting a blank from the period and then get a copy cut.

Thanks for the offer, appreciated.

the day i bought my car i only got one key and as i was putting it on a truck the next day to go interstate, i spent half a day driving around perth trying to get a key cut and no-one had blanks....

thankfully toll didn't lose the keys, but back in South Oz it still took me ****** ages to find a locksmith with the blanks... can't remember who it was now..
i really should write that stuff down!

Hi
Do you happen to know the number of the key?
Eg. FS_ _ _ as I have quite a few of these left over from NOS with quite a few different numbers in FS and FP :?: I think.
Thanks

Ian

I could be wrong here but I have a vague recollection the number is somewhere in each lock, eg if you pull apart your boot lock it's stamped somewhere but it may involve removing the barrel.

But be aware barrels are sometimes altered to suit a different key, I've done that a few times myself by rearranging/filing down the pins.

I think as far as just getting a new key cut a decent locksmith should be able to get that blank still even if they need to order one in, or find out what that blank is called and ring around. It's a very common key type for british cars
