| Post subject: | Manifold vs Mech fuel pump |
The fuel in the van seems to dry up after running for a while at temp. Investigation finds no fuel getting to carby. Is this caused by heat from the manifold, if so what can i sheild the fuel pump with? Fuel pump does work. |

it should have heat sheild on it from new, I think. |

They never came with a heat shield. You can wrap the exhaust and wrap the fuel pipes to reduce the heat. |

Fuel vapour locks on a mini is not a common thing even on the hottest of days. Yes you can wrap it in heat shield cloth but why is it vapour locking ??? Is it an aftermarket fuel line that is too close to the exhaust ??? Is the ignition timing properly set ??? Mike |

= no more vapour lock, because the fuel is then under pressure everywhere upstream of the pump (which is down the back, and cool). |

I would say for fuel pump needs replacing as a good mechanical pump has plenty of pressure |

Probably the little flap valves in the pump if it's a goss mech pump. Or there's a bit of poop under one or both of them. They will still pump fine like this but only when there's fluid in there, once some vapour gets in they wont lift (same problem if priming from dry). New valves solves the problem each time
