Just wanted to check something, I'm in the final stages of getting my '64 van painted, all that is left to do are the hinges and various fiddly parts. So should the following all be painted body colour? - main bonnet catch (with large spring) - bonnet hook type catch - rear door check stays If they aren't painted body colour, what should the finish be? Even if they were painted when new, I'd suggest plating them instead, those bits are prone to the paint chipping off. |

Yep, should be body colour - but as Harley suggested it might be a good idea to plate them first. The main bonnet catch is usually ok because it gets greased, but i'd suggest smearing some vaseline on the bonnet hook catch to stop it rusting on the areas where it rubs against the slam panel. |
