 Post subject: 1/4 vent latch pin

How do you remove the 1/4 vent latch pin without damaging the latch?
Tried drilling one out but it is tiny and things end up stuffed. There's nothing to grab cause the pin is in so far.
If I can't sort it out I'll have to change 1/4 window I guess, but would prefer not to have to.

Done this job the other week i just got a small flat screw driver and a hammer and tapped it out from other side

And with the one i was taking off i ended up cutting with hacksaw along the pin till i seen the pin then tapped it out

So it should go straight through then? The other sides looks like it's chromed which would have been done before the pin was put in.
Will give it a go though.

NO,
The pin will not go straight through.
Has to come out the way it went in....
Not an easy job.

I drilled mine out with a small drill bit and a variable speed drill. Keep the speed slowish and take your time. And yes mine also did not look like they would push all the way thru.

I tapped it out from chrome side and it came out the side you see the pin just enough so pliers could grab it

My spring inside was stuffed inside that handle

You can buy new pins and springs from Minisport in Adelaide.

I cut the whole quarter window out of a door with a hack saw at northern road wreckers penrith cause the 3 screws were rusted well got it for $20
