I have had my engine balanced when I first built it

The rubber in the Harmonic Balancer is a little preished and I want to get the balancer rebuilt.

I was wondering if this would change the over balance of the engine or would things be ok if the balancer is re balanced again

and can you change say a single conrod and be ok if its the same weight with out re balancing the whole engine again

Thoughts would be appreciated

It may look perished outside but looks are deceiving. Trim it flush with a razor blade then take another look.

It will be OK, the balancer (misnamed item if ever there was one- should be called a harmonic damper) is/should be rebalanced by whoever rebuilds it.

Sure can, no problem.
My 1412 stroker has 3x rods out of a busted Melburnian 1275, and a 4th one I got from GR. But yeah I balanced them the same within 1gm.

Thoughts would be appreciated

Hey, if you remember can you let me know if you ever find out a local price/supplier for a rebuild? Been meaning to get to that job for ages but have never got off my butt to compare a retread to buying new.

Oh and didn't see you up here on the weekend....or if you were there I completely missed you!

might cost you a bit extra, but you can post them to "Ross Performance Engine Parts" in Sydney. $180 a couple of years ago

maybe not cheaper than buying a newie, but maybe you don't want a newie

Watch what you buy new.
People on here and others on track have had trouble with Romac balancers, they can self destruct..
Minis Plus has nice blingy MED ones, I use one on my 1412 and many people (GR included) race with them.

Thanks for the replys

There is guy in Nz who repairs them Harmonic Damper Rebuilds Ltd.

I have not used him personally but his feedback is good.

I may go the MED path as its only a little more exspensive.

Didn't make it to Hastings Labour Weekend does not work for us as we plant our organoic garden over that weekend otherwise we have no fresh veges for the summer

Sounds like it was good event
