Yeah I've done it by drilling to the thread's root diameter then cleaning the thread out with a tap. Can't remember the size though!!
Forget little ezy outs- they are a waste of time IMO.

Any one got a solution to my problem: The grease nipple for the top ball joint on the front hub has snapped, has anyone succesfully removed the remailing thread and re-tapped the cast? cheers |

yea - the ezy out didnt work, it just twisted while the cast hub laughed at it

I've used small ezi outs before after deepening the thread in them with a dremel cutter. As bought they are too shallow and don't bite. |

I have a torx bit which just happens to be a hammer fit into the grease channel of the nipple, so i didn't even need to drill a hole. Just tapped in the torx bit and unscrewed the nipple. The thread in the hub was fine so i just screwed in a new nipple |
