Hi All, Building a new dash for my clubman and am transferring my oil pressure gauge and buying a voltage gauge to install. My question is, is the water temp gauge on the clubman cluster accurate enough for everyday use or should I be looking to buy a specific water temp gauge? Running a stock 998 with extractors, exhaust and HS4 and havent had any overheating problems to date. Thanks |

My 850 has no temp gauge. I can always smell when she is a bit hot... Gotta love old cars! |

All the stock meters are pretty much "guessometers", but if you're worried about accuracy, just test it for yourself. Whip the sender out of the head, make sure it's grounded, then plonk it in some known-temp water (cup of just boiled water is a decent guide) and see where the gauge is - bingo! Why a volt meter? Either the car is charging, or it's not, which the original warning lamp tells you. |

I've got 2 volt meters and don't use either really. One is a guage and the other as part of the turbo stuff. Oil pressure and water temp I check all the time. My water temp setup is a thermomitor type accurate to 2deg C with digital display. Peter |

You can run the car and buy a digital thermometer and place it in the radiator to see what reading means what temp. Something about $20 at Electronic Dick will do |
