For people in parts of the
Sydney Metropolitan and
Central Coast areas.

Issued at 4:23 pm Monday, 7 November 2011.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:25 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Dural and Riverstone.

These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast.

They are forecast to affect Hornsby, Berowra and Glenorie by 4:55 pm and Woy Woy, Brooklyn and Terrey Hills by 5:25 pm.

Large hailstones, very heavy rainfall and flash flooding are likely.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.

The next warning is due to be issued by 5:25 pm.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Metropolitan, Illawarra and Central Tablelands districts.

Schofields and Castle Hill copped massive rain and wind but no hail. Better safe than sorry I guess.

I want to work at the BoM. You can just guess and if it happens all good if not no one cares. If I did that in my job I'd be fired or sued!!

Oh well

Pete

We got some hail here in Quakers, nothing that could hurt a mini though

But plenty of rain that could get in the open windows on my cars because it was 400 degrees this morning..

Sigh..

Ah bummer bout the windows. Been there done that!
Surprising how it hit Quakers but not schofields. Unless my wife can't tell the difference between hail and rain hahaha

Hail was maybe marble sized, that's about it

Really quite negligable!

I'm near Quakers Inn, if you're still at your place near Hambledon, it's a decent distance!
