`Difficulty' depends what year your van is. There are 2 so called `magic wand' setups- the original used on 850s etc up to `69 (3 synchro boxes), and the `puddin' stirrer' used on vans and pov pack cars from 1969-1774 approx (4 synchro remote box + gearshift attachment). If yours is the later sort, the swap from remote to your puddin' stirrer is just a matter of swapping shifter bits from yours onto the remote diff housing. If yours is earlier type however, it involves swapping the diff housings- this is not entirely straightforward as the diff bearing bores have to be checked for size and roundness when magic wand diff housing is attached. [edit] here's the puddin stirrer type, as you can see the diff housing is a `remote' one. ![]() |

This may solve a similar problem for me too, does both a wand and stirrer come thru the floor in exactly the same spot? |

Yes I think they do. Be aware that the puddin' stirrer bits are a bit hard to find these days. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

And I guess a rod change would be as hard to convert to stirrer like a wand is? |

harder, as in that one can`t actually be done edit, unless you change the whole box over ![]() |

Good thing I wasn't planning on going that direction haha As long as i can have a stirrer mated to a remote casing and it comes thru the wand hole, im as happy as a pig-in. That I can work with ![]() |

You can shorten the rods on a rod change. That's how they fitted them into Mokes without moving the gearstick hole. Tim |
