Im sure that the original colour of the engine should be that metallic green BUT the paint on my engine looks to be that gold colour. It is the original engine so.... (numbers match). I just want to confirm what it should be. It's an Aussie 68 Mini.Matic. |

My car is a 1970 and the 998 `matic engine had the same light green metallic paint as a Mk2S did. (not the gold that Mini K got). But, it had a darker green underneath (all the `matics engines/boxes were imported assembled from UK) |

My understanding is that the 68 mini.matic took after the mini deluxe. The mk2 took after the mini k. Here are some photos ![]() ![]() Your thoughts? |

Sorry I don't have any pics- the mighty `matic is now in a blue `76 Clubby somewhere, complete with hydro suspension and Cooper 998 discs with servo.. ![]() |

Ahh ok, that means the later leyland mini engines came from the uk as well? Yep. They stopped producing motors in Australia at the end of 74 and stopped fitting them in mid 75. All power units came from the UK after mid 75. |

The engine color for the 1275 auto is 222 Light Bronze Green , the engine colors used on the 998 and 1100 autos,s was 223 Middle Bronze Green and 224 Deep Bronze Green , all three colors were listed in the BMC British Standard color chart , having said that if in the workshop they had made a batch of 1275 auto,s and they also had 998 and 1100 auto,s there to be painted I,m sure they might have used 222 Light Bronze Green on all of them rather than switch to a different paint ![]() . |

The last of the 1275 autos were still BLMC and painted with the BMC paint , Leyland Australia never built auto engines but they would have serviced / rebuilt and probably resprayed auto,s in Leyland Australia colors post 1971 . |
