As im getting my mini ready to be put on the road, one of the things i want to do is add a subwoofer but don't want to take up all the room in the world as the boot is small enough as it is. So I am just curious as to who has installed suttle subs and different ways to install them just to get some ideas of how to do my own

If you don't want to take up much space I'd look at one of them 8" active subs with inbuilt amp to under the passengers seat. It'll sound fine in a mini. Personally though, I have four 8" JBL subs under the back seat, running at 1000wrms. Has a little more kick at that power level.

yeah i was looking at these new pioneer 6x9 fully independant and inclosed subwoofers but they are like a rectangle shaped so a little harder to fit and im worried about, if it put it under the seat that it may get damaged? maybe under the back seat but im not sure if it will sit snug under there or not :S |

You'd fit one of them under the drivers seat up against the crossmember, its nearly taller than the sub! |

yeah but i like simitry in my car so i'd have to do one on each side lol. apparently the power out of one of these is pretty insain for a big car so it should sound pretty good in the mini. I was thinking about mounting a single 10" sub in the boot but then it would take up alot of room so i think under the seat is the way to go? |

It's a bit of work, but you could mold a fibreglass back for a sub enclosure to fit over the right guard in the boot and attach an mdf or ply front to mount the speaker, a 10" needs about 30L volume for an enclosed box so it will only be slightly bigger than a fuel tank. Otherwise, do what Harley did, that would have some real punch

yeah well that was an option i was looking at. was actually gonna get a tank to go off and to use as a reference so that is an option. I've had alot of trouble finding 8" subs in the bast so not sure if that's a road i will go down yet. wait and see what happens i guess. ill work it out

There was a sub woofer thread in the car audio section a while back. I forget what brand of sub it was but they would be a great fit under a seat... Like others have said it's a sub with amp and from memory it wasn't too much bigger than an A4 piece of paper but obviously thicker Edit... yeah pioneer make one very similar to that and they're from memory even more compact but pack a real punch. I have a ll pioneer gear in my mini so i will try to stick with the same brand if i can but ill see what i can find

yeah im thinking about giving the under the back seat mounted ones a go first and see how that turns out i think. if not then i can always get the under the seat ones instead |
