I guess that's what it takes to win prizes these days. I'm a little cold on those sort of projects to be honest. Cars don't dominate my life to the point where I spend an obscene amount of money on them. Would I, if I could? I doubt it.

To put it in perspective, the Fred Hollows Foundation can restore someone's sight (from blind to being able toy see again) through simple, first world surgery. With a donation of NZ$25. They do this throughout the developing world but predominately in the Pacific, Nepal and so on. If you want ingenuity, look at how developed their own machines for making replacement lenses for eyes and training local doctors.

It makes for an interesting read, but spending that much money on something ultimately pointless doesn't excite me. Neither do Lambos or Ferraris. I like Minis because you can have fun with them without it all getting out of hand. Fair play to the fella, just not for me.

Quite impressed actually. The exposed motor is interesting, I like it.
I would have made the dash reflect the original car with the speedo
in the center.
Just a question....with the motor so far to one side and the driver too,
would you feel this imbalance when driving?

The gearbox/diff/inner CV weight would come pretty close to offsetting it on the other side.

I'm with Angus actually. I like minis because much can be done to enjoy them without having to spend the kids college fund. I don't go so far as to donate unspent funds to Fred Hollows though.

Its an amazing car but I agree that the owner should have tried to make a modern version of the original interior rather than try and turn it into race car interior.

Love to know the total cost. Must be about 50k - maybe more??
