Guys and Gals, A mate just called me looking at buying a car. He said there was a 1962 Mini that says 1000 S on it. Anyone know if it's a mini? He said Morris so no idea what it is at this point. I'll get pics off him in morning but ever heard of a 1962 1000 S or a Morris 1000 S or anything like that? Cheers, Peter |

interesting, probably just got a foreign badge on it. I remember not knowing anything once and sticking a leyland 1000 badge on my van. I still dont know too much, except my van aint a leyland or 1000. |

My guess is that its a Morris Minor 1000 S not a Mini but will see what the picture shows. I know what you mean though, all the varieties of Minis - when I started I had NO idea... Pete |

Morris Minor 1000, yes, but no such thing as a Morris Minor 1000 "S " I've seen lots of wierd badge combinations on minis too, there's a clubman around here with the "Morris Mini" on it from a Deluxe or K ![]() |

My guess is a Mini with a Clubman boot lid with a dodgy badge. |

There was a Mini S sold in australia (not cooper), wasn't there? That might not be the right name, but it was a 998 with twin carbs, and had the 'S' on the grille. That would be my bet. |

That would be my bet. That was a Clubby shape, sold in the 70s, not a 62... We need a pic.. it's worth 1000 words. ![]() |

I had a bog stock Mini Deluxe with a Clubby bootlid. I changed the "Leyland Mini" badge to a "MINI COOPER S" one off a UK Mk111 S as a bit of a joke. I was surprised how many people were fooled by that silly badge. ![]() |

Those badges are available out of the minispares cattle dog. My clubman is a mini S but has a very quick 1310 with disks. Even yesterday a casual aquaintance looked at it and said that back then his brother had the same thing only his was a "proper" Cooper S. At least I was spared the the "they fitted a V8" that often comes following the above statement. Mike |
