I have been carrying out repairs to the front apron of my 68 S and needed to make reference to a front cut of a 67 (or so I believe) deluxe which I have to gain some measurements when I realised there is a difference in number plate mountings.
The deluxe had a number plate mounting plate in which the mounting bolts to the car are at 430mm centres and the plate itself is wider that the standard number plate. As well it is fitted with two captive nuts to take a screw which secures the number plate. The brackets spot welded to the front apron have a slight offset on the front vertical mounting face where it attached to the mounting plate.
On the S the plate bolt centres are at 305mm and the plate is narrower than a standard number plate. The mounting brackets are flat on the vertical face.
Reference to a number of BMC parts books and Mini Kingdom Parts list was of no assistance as the number plate mounting plate is not even listed in any publication.
Anybody able to shed any light on this matter?
