Post subject:  Wheel well modification for 13 inch rims

Hey guys!
I am pretty close to ordering my 13x7" rims and tyres for the mini.
What do i have to modify in the wheel arch to make them fit nicely?
I have sport pack arches which have already been cut.

depends on height, most normal minis need to trim about 20-25mm of the front lower front where the tyre will hit when cornering

If your arches have already been cut, what information are you after?
Sounds like jobs done.

I was told that the inner well had to be cut or something as it hits while turning...

on a side note..

which look better on sportpacks.. 13x6 or 13x7?

I'd prefer to see negative offset 13 x 6s under those arches, only 13 x 7s if the have 195 tyres.

No mods to the wheel well, though factory cars with big wheels had uprated shocks all round and a steering rack mod to reduce steering angle.

I think deep dish have negative off sets and i don't mind them.
I am not sure what 195 tyres sorry :/

The person i bought the arches off had some really nice 13x6 rims for sale but he said that they don't really fill the arches so i passed on that.

I want to upgrade all my shocks, I think the front shocks are about to die, small pot holes have become a big jitter and the steering rack has a "loose" spot in it where if i turn it a little either way it does not turn the wheels.

i would tighten the pinch bolt at the bottom of the steering column

at least

I will replace my shocks, What would you recommend getting?
I am looking for normal ride height.

I think i will have to remove the left hand fuel tank to change one of them, Is this correct?

yep tank has to be removed , drain it first

Actually, there's no need to drain the tank if its an injected car, just drive it till its low.
All you do is take the filler cap off, loosen the bolt inside on the floor, remove the plastic shield, and the tank can be swung around enough to get to the shock, though it is a PITA, and removal beyond that only requires you to disconnect the hoses at the top of the tank.
