Having just picked up my 78 clubby and doing a bit of sleuthing, we've noticed that boot is slightly off in colour. Adding to this, it has a hinged number plate mount. I was under the impression that the hinged number plate was phased out at the end of the 60's, which would concrete the suggestion that the boot door is not original. Figured you guys would be the ones who would know!

The Australian Minis kept the same boot lid and numberplate mount from 65 to 78. There was no change.

So you can fill your boot up and drive around with your boot-lid down and the police etc can still see your number plate.

Yeah I knew it did that (genius design) but I remember reading that they got rid of it because it leaked fumes :P
