I am sure there was a NSW Modified Mini Club at some stage, but I think they folded....

The MCC NSW has lots of modified Mini's......have you seen Rob's $30 000 + turbo clubby? He is always at club events and even won Best Mini at Show recently..... Club members are the judges...they weren't too uptight to award him that one.....

Have to say that you are completly wrong about the club. The Mini Car Club of NSW is a very easy going, freindly mob. Yes there are a few people that have it in there head that std is the only way a mini should be. But, having said that, there are a number of members with mini's that would frighten the pants off you. Rob's Clubby is a prime example. There is a Supercharged Van, now that thing just sounds scary. Even when it comes to Motorsport the club is one of the biggest mini based clubs around austalia, with an event at least once a month. No one will critisze you for your mini, as long as it is a mini, or moke, or whatever. Another good example is doogies motorkhana clubby, 1427 stroker running on avgas, sitting in a beat up old shell. but no one cares, cause it is just awsome. Have a look at the website and goto the motorkhana before last, theer is a video of it. The only thing that people may get annoyed with is registering a car on club plates. there are rules in which the club has to abide by. IE modifications are allowed but they have to be period modifications. So if you can prove they had turbo's back in the 70's then no problem. CD players and huge ice systems, won't be taken on the simple fact that they didn't exsist. Until you have come along and met a few of us, please don't be too hasty to judge. I like to think i am pretty freindly. There is a meeting on tomorrow night. came along and have a chat to some of us. Even better come to hay and meet lots of idiots in mini's doing handbrake turns and trying to roll there cars. www.miniclub.com.au

Cheers

Aaron

Anyone can come along to the meeting, but we hope that you join also, as the club is funded by memberships.
It makes no difference what your mini looks like within the club. But Historic Club Registration has a set of guidelines that the club must follow set down by the RTA. If you want to have your car in the club and you have gone all out and done modifications that make it your own then great, it is just another version of a mini and i am sure there would be many members that would love to see it and talk to you about what you do.
I'll be at the meeting tonight, i hope to see a few new faces there! Now to go pack the mini for the trip over. A mini panel van with a baby seat in the back, well that can't be standard can it? No of course not, but alot of people love it!

Yes it is funded on members, the poor soles that live outside sudney, do us a favour and call your self mini club of sydney, cause you only stay within sydney, non of your runs are outside except for hay, and the club olate scheme is a scam, its not what your allowed its who you know, why should some one be on there with early 850 mini with a 1100cc, or even better wind up windows thats only too cars I sure theres more dodgy slip thru's, it should be pure genuine minis for the people that take the time and spend the money on getting NOS parts and making there car 100% correct not half assed people who want cheap rego, sorry this club has a bad rep for a reason, its not only me its other poor suckers that have been members for years outside sydney that see nothing for there money, I am one of many, yes I am sure there is a few nice people in the club but its those wankers at the top that wreck it for others, sorry some of them are at the top and your first line up against the outside,

thats my say on the matter so please dont sit there say your just wonderfull casue the club isnt its far far from it,

Mini Monaro, i agree that the club doesn't do much outside of Sydney. But there is a reason for this. The people that live in Sydney started the club, if people from Wollongong want to have there own club and do things that fine, a branch can be set up, this negates the need for insurances etc. It's a non profit club run by people that volunteer. If you feel hard done by, then think of what you are asking. The Sydney branch can't organise a run in tweed heads for example, as it is too far away to logistically do so. In April, a member had this same issue that you bring up, that the club didn't do anything for him. It was put to him, if he organised something in his area, with his local mini lovers. Then the people from Sydney would come down. He did and we had a great weekend in Gulgong/Mudgee. So, I put it to you if you don't like it then YOU do something about it, don't sit on the sideline and complain get off your bum and organise something. I felt a similar way when I joined the club, I hated the website that the club had. So I VOLUNETEERED to do it. I would think that most people would agree that the site is a vast improvement, and it is still being developed.

As for club plates, that was an issue that has been dealt with, with the removal of the old and a new club plates Boss installed, the job is now well in hand, and the scheme is now run the way it should have been. The reason for this, someone VOLUNTEERED to do something about it.

The only way you can make a club run is to have people that are enthusiastic to help out, the organise and to run thing’s. More of the younger generation need to step up to the plate and make changes. Otherwise it will always be the way YOU don’t want it.

This is my 2 cents, and your opinion is welcome, but please remember, you said it, so now you fix it. VOLUNTEER

Cheers

Aaron
