Post subject:  Engine Steady/Heater bracket arrangement

Hi all,

I'm putting my engine bay back together after painting it all up, but I can't seem to remember how the bulkhead brackets that hold the radiator-side engine steady and heater hoses are put in.

I have the bracket which attaches to the engine steady with the hole for the heater tube (like this: http://www.minisport.com.au/prod173.htm). I know where this one goes, but what covers the 2nd hole? There is also a galvanised plate that matches the shape of the gasket, and I believe this went under the bracket.

Any photos please? This is a '78 rod change 998 leyland.

Thanks for that. However, I'm pretty sure the galvanised plate was in the engine bay - perhaps someone assembled it wrong in the past.

So is there anything covering the 2nd hole? The engine steady bracket goes over one, I seem to remember something going over the other.

the galvo braket was ontop of the fire wall but it`s best to fit it underneath now to help 'samdwhich" the fire wallo & helps prevent the body from cracking

they were all fitted with a thin rubber slab originally too but that just makes the braketry all loss & wobble & crack also

so,,, fit it sandwhiched & tight & solid & you`ll be fine

the heater holes are not 'covered" by the steady bar brkt,,, the hole is still open,,, same as the other hole,,, just so you can fit both heater hoses through them :-)

got it?

if you want them blanked off if you are not using a heater then get 2x rubber grommets of the right size

got it???

cheers
