Post subject: | Threaded holes in sill panel. |
Greetings all. Finally started on my wifes Cooper today. (Been too hot this week!) Anyhow, I have the usual spot of rust each end of sill panel. Easy cut n weld new sheet in. I am curious as to the 3/8" threaded holes each end (about 2" in from ends) Theres an inner bracket holding nuts in place. what were these for. Is it possibly a body tiedown point (s)? Seems like a point to let sludge in, I was thinking maybe put a bolt n washer in them. Any idea why their there? Alex. |

It was for bolting them to a jig on the production line. |

Thanks again Morris 1100. Great pics. love that ole stuff. Got one sill ready to weld up. Funny thing, I blew out all the dust from one end to another and found a 1950 Penny in the sill. Must have been someones lunch money at Zetland Ha! Cheers Alex. |

Kingsley. Ya right there! It was pretty "gungie" and I was thinking, is that a 5 or a 3!!! My missus googled it and depending on a mint marking, it's worth a few dollars, or a Penny! Has King George V1 on it. Hopefully the other sill has some 'deposits" Ha! Alex. |
