There is an engine number thread here with several Minimatics on it , there have also been several Rover 998 and 1275 automatic transplants

My other Van once its rebuilt will be getting an early 1275 auto

Gee thats a hard one - there weren't that many to start with. I suppose a rough estimation could go along the lines that maybe 10% of what was on the road to begin with.

That would also included those in various shed and backyards as "gunnabe restored" and "under restoration" projects.

My guess would be around 2% to 5% of the total production. But as we don't know the total production figure it is a bit of a guess anyway.
So my guess would be between 20 to 50 cars on the road registered still with autos.

My mum bought a new Mini Matic back in the 60's and I saw it for sale in the trading post a few years ago, I remembered the rego number, I offered the lady selling the car the original registration papers on it but she never got back to me. So that one was still around going back a couple of years. It was white with a red interior.

Sad Sad Sad news the mini-matic is overheating (again) and has coolant in number 3. i think I have a cracked bore, as i have replaced everything else in the cooling system.

Any suggestion on how to prove I have a cracked bore?

Does any body have a Morris 1100 auto or a mini-matic motor and transmission.

Bugger!!

Far more likely you have a cracked head, as I did.
998s and 1098s are not prone to bore cracking, it's rare.
OTOH the head on a 1098 automatic is a 12G295, it is pretty common for these to crack.
If it is and you can't find another I'd replace with a 12G202 head, ported to flow like a 295.

ps. I'd fit an ACL Monotorque head gasket, they are better than all the rest on smallbores.
