Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

It is stamped on the outside of the displacer, it is very hard to see, I used WD40 and a light rub with a wire brush to clean up these ones for the photos..

If you are lucky you may also see the paint bands and the painted part number...

Not all of them have the number on the side.
Look at the rubber spring, if it says "Made in Australia" it probably won't have the number on the outside. (well, my ones don't)

Thanks Morris, your info was awesome, the only no I found on the outer of the displacer was 12, but they have the made in Australia cast into the rubber in the displacer, they came out a rusty deluxe that has full Mk 2 Cooper S running gear.

You can tell Oz S/GT displacers from Oz Deluxe etc, S rubber cone is closer to the top metal rim by 10mm or more.

Not to hijack the thread, but at work we have to identify dirty and poorly stamped parts all the time.

Easiest way we've found is to get some chalk and rub it all over the area where we think the number should be, then get a dry bit of clean rag and wipe it lightly over the suspected stamped areas, leaving the numbers nicely highlighted for you.

But that's if you have chalk, otherwise the old elbow grease is the only way :-(

I use the chalk method a lot.
But when I started cleaning these displacers I didn't even know they had numbers let alone the orange or silver painted rings.
