I was wondering if it would be safe for me to flush my old engine out with wynns flushing oil. I saw it in supercheap the other day and was thinking on buying it before I change my oil next. I was wondering if it would affect the gearbox in anyway because I doubt they took the mini into consideration when testing it. And is it really worth it? |

I used some Nulon oil flush on my engine once. Certainly didn't do anything bad, but I'm not sure it really made much difference. I noticed reading the Wynns directions it states to just add the bottle to your engine before an oil change, into your old oil - that seems a bit pointless to me. I drained the old oil and put a new filter and new oil, added the oil flush, then drained it all and put fresh oil and filter on. |

Oil is so cheap for what it does already ![]() Try and drain the oil each time after a long run semi-hot (careful) and take notice of the Doc about facing the car slighly downhill and with the Drivers Left side wheel up on a brick. enjoy driving your Brick ![]() |

i ahev used 2 methods to flush the engine out... 1- was the diesel trick - drain the old oil adn put a few ltires of diesel in (2-3). run the engien on idle for a few minutes (do not rev) and then draina gain. this got rid of a lot of crap for me 2- the metho trick - old oil (say 3 litres thats already in the sump) + 0.5 ltrs of metho adn run the engien again as above. drain adn fill again. metho gets rid of water deposits and diesel does the lot... i dunno if it does damage but i blv not and does a good job |

i used to be a fan of the flushing thing with diesel, with flushing oil but have realised its not needed if you change regularly (me, 1000miles, last time was only 600miles) someone posted up an article about flushing getting rid of the crud that has settled well in the engine. oil pressure was all over the shop and the car didnt have it crud seals (good) that built up over time, it was devastating. if you really want to flush, i would use the same brand with the oil |
