Driving along on Castle Hill Rd, normal day, all good, pull in behind a Boxter and start heading up the hill... BANG!!!!! There was a VERY loud bang and instantly the following happened... I had to drive it around the corner like this, and then park... it was crackling for ages. New windscreen already organised ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Had the same thing happen in an XC falcon on wet cold winters night on a dirt road and at 100 kph. The zone toughening (which is supposed to give you a visible "seeing" area) didn't work as well as yours has. I had to punch a hole in it and be showered with glass fragments in the few seconds it took to come to a stop. Then driving home was a very uncomfortable experience with wind and rain coming into the car and onto our faces, along with remaining glass fragments, despite "pressurising" the cabin by having all other windows wound up. Whats funny is that it was INSTANT! Literally BANG and thats the result... Amazing! one min driving and see clearly then instantly everything went white, then my eyes came back to normal... Im pretty lucky actually - was just into a curve. Pete |

Wow, I've never actually seen a zone-toughened screen shatter. You can see where the zoning is, the fragments are slightly larger around the driver's line of sight. Not that it helps ![]() |

Yeah well through insurance and O'Brien they will replace it with the green laminated AS one... doesnt really worry me but far out. If you look at the last pic you can see that something has obviously hit the bottom right corner (drivers side) and caused it. There is a TINY 'ding' or whatever you want to call it there also. Unlucky I guess. Wish it wasnt raining though, would pop it out and drive home and park her lol Will be fixed today anyway. Pete |

When I clicked this thread I expected to hear you had blown up your motor ![]() It's a shame it happened behind the boxter, you could have shown him who's who ![]() |
