Its a bearing cage, possibly off the double row in the middle, which is not a good thing.

The quietest mini gearbox i have used, ended up not having a mainshaft nose needle roller bearing, as i found out when i pulled it down. I couldn't believe it, i thought i got and extra bearing in the gearbox bearing kit i bought!

Yep looks like a bearing cage to me.
