Post subject:  Bodywork removal.

I want to remove front wings and front panel from the mini. One wing is shot so I took an angle grinder to it but the other is in good condition so I want to keep it. I have a spot weld remover but what about the spot welds you can't get to? Bottom of the windscreen and around beneath the headlight opening? Any tips or tricks? I know they'll be some bending and buckling but I would like it to be minimal.

Cheers.

If i understand you correctly. these are internal seams, So you will have to try to drill them from under the guards.

I havnt done it before so i dont have any tricks for you

there shouldn't be any spot welds on a mudguard other than the A panel, along the sides of the engine bay, and around the headlight - none around the windscreen... :?

you'd normally take the apron off with the mudguards still attached, so you can remove the spot welds when it's off

I've done it that way

I think he means the little section where the guard attaches to the panel under the windscreen where the panel edges are turned down so the spotwelds are under and at the back of the guard. I've not done it so can't help.

It shouldn't be welded there. My Cooper S wasn't.

The Clubby Racer wasn't, but it & the "A" panels etc are all fully seam welded now.. just hope they never have to come off. :(

Yes, that's the bit. Would be good if it isn't welded making it much easier to remove.
