| Post subject: | Clutch line sucking air |
I went to bleed the clutch line and it seems it is sucking air somewhere. Before I pull it all apart just wondering if there are some common trouble spots I should look at first. Cheers in advance |

Given that the rubber hose and the connections are good then it can only be either the Clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder. Do the easy one first. The slave cylinder - peel back the rubber boot and if there is any traces of fluid inside the rubber boot then it needs refurbishing or replacing. If it seems dry then somehow get yourself upside down and your hands up where the clutch pedal pushes up into the clutch master cylinder. Feel around for wet sticky brake fluid - you may need to peel back that rubber boot as well. Anny fluid traces and it also needs a refurb or a replace. Kits are available for both the slave and the master but you generally find that after this many years they need to be rebored before a new refurb kits is installed. Any specialist brake place can do the rebore and sorce the oversized components for you, Mike |

Instead of a rebore it is a better job to have a stainless sleeve fitted, then you can continue to use standard rubbers |
