Wow ![]() The description is a bit short on detail, but damn if that wouldn't be a hard thing to fake. Wonder what BMC were thinking with that one! |

It has been for sale for a while. Its the real deal, apparently recovered from a scrap merchant. There is a picture of it fully built up in "Mini - The Definitive History by Jon Pressnell" as well as some details about its history. ![]() The seller runs an engineering firm in the UK which specialises in Mini engines. The thing with it is that it would take cubic money (or a minor miracle) to get it back together again. Otherwise its just a very expensive static display for a museum. Tim |

pretty cool little thing... would be wicked to tune it up to its full potential, but as Tim mentioned... would take a small car's worth of money to find and put everything back together.... |

![]() The Mini was developed in the late 50s to take sales from the toy cars- Messerschmidt, BMW Isetta, Trojan, Fiat 500 etc. Issigonis and co thought initially that a ~500cc might work... ![]() |

During the Apollo Moon shots the entire computing power in the world was less than the module in a current production car. Course calculations required 7 huge reel to reel computers constantly calculating projected course positions then comparing to actual and then working out if a change was required - it took so long that the 7 were needed to keep ahead of the space craft. |

Would have been well under 20 mate. As it was just 1/2 a 948.... (which had 37bhp I think). |

I think John Copper would have really struggled to get a 2 cylinder mini to win races ![]() It was probably a big sliding door moment that has had such a huge impact on the world I don't think ausmini would be the place it is if all we had to work with was a 2 cylinder 20 odd HP mini ![]() |
